Head Coach Vince Brown
The oldest of four boys (the others are Greg, Mark & Gerran) and the son of Joyce & Roy of Santa Ana, Vince attended Mater Dei High School where he was Senior Class President in 1978. Several knee surgeries forced Vince to change his focus from football to the shot put. Vince highlighted an outstanding high school career by finishing second in the California State Championships. As a freshman, he attended UC Irvine but transferred to Long Beach City College as a sophomore so he could train with some of the top throwers in the country. As a junior, he returned to the collegiate level with a scholarship to the University of Alabama. In 1982, Vince graduated from Alabama with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education.
From 1982 to 1985, Coach Brown returned to Mater Dei where he coached football, baseball, and track and taught freshman science. In the summer of 1985, he was given the opportunity to take his first head coaching job at Tustin High School. In seven years at Tustin High, Coach Brown's teams won five league titles. Tustin established itself as a perennial power during the years Coach was over the program.
In 1992, Vince left Tustin, his teaching assignment moved to the Currie Middle School and he took over the reins of Head Baseball Coach at Woodbridge High School. In 1993, Woodbridge won the Seaview League Championship, finished 24-5 the best record in Orange County and Coach Brown was named Orange County Coach of the Year. Vince spent only two years as head coach at Woodbridge but they were two very blessed years with great families and supporters.
In June of 1995 Coach Brown was named Head Baseball Coach at Foothill, Coach Brown's teams steadily improved winning four league titles between 1996 and 2003. Coach was named Orange County Baseball Coach of the Year in 2002. Vince stepped down in 2004 to spend more time with his young family but the program was left talented and strong winning their next three league titles along with a CIF-SS and State Division III title in 2006.
Coach Brown served as Athletic Director for 17 years being named the 2012 Athletic Director of the Year for the CIF-SS, however in July of 2013 with a new school administration Vince was asked to step down as Athletic Director as they wanted to take the Athletic Director's position in a different direction.
Coach Brown was fortunate enough to interview and be named the new Baseball Coach in late July 2013. The 2014 baseball season was a magical run for all involved, with great team dedication and commitment the team went from worst to first in the Century League and made a run to the CIF-SS Division 1 finals. Coach Brown was named Orange County Baseball Coach of the Year by the OC Register, LA Times and OCSidelines.com. Coach was also honored by USA Today as they named him California State Baseball Coach of the Year.
There is no secret to success, quality players that work hard, trust each other and are committed to the program will equal success. With a strong baseball community and a committed and dedicated Booster Club and coaching staff, things look very bright for the future of Foothill Baseball.
Vince is married to his loving and very patient wife, Cherie. Vince has three sons Dillon (Senior Pitcher at Cal State Fullerton), Tommy (Sophomore (Redshirt Freshman)football player at Alabama) and Zachary (Freshman at Villa Park High School). Vince teaches Physical Education. This is Vince's 38th year teaching and 24th year as a head baseball coach.
